Dorrigo Plateau Fibre Group

The Dorrigo Plateau Fibre Group has been active for more than 20 years. We are
affiliated with the Spinners and Weavers Guild of NSW.

We are a varied group who are aged from their mid 30’s to their late 80’s and
originate from South Africa, New Zealand, Greece, Switzerland, Persia, Germany and
Australia and who are now proud to call the Dorrigo Plateau home.

Our weekly meet ups are engaging and collaborative occasions where we shareour
experience and expertise with each other and welcome new members who wish to
learn from us.

Fibre activities practiced by us include:

  • Spinning
  • Weaving
  • Knitting
  • Crochet
  • Needlepoint
  • Teddy Bear making
  • Textile recycling
  • Sewing
  • Botanical dyeing
  • Acid dyeing
  • Felting
  • Eco leaf printing

Our combined expertise is manifest in the many thousands of hours it has taken to
create the work that makes up this exhibition. If you purchase a hand crafted item
from us you are buying more than an object, you are buying the result of many
hundreds of hours of practice, failure, research and experimentation. You aren’t just
buying a thing you are buying the maker more time and materials to do the things
they are most passionate about

The event is finished.
